Player Development

Bundaberg Basketball is committed to developing the basketball skills of its players as well as its coaches.

Bundaberg Basketball runs two competition seasons per year:

Summer          October (commences Term 4) to Mar (end of Term 1)

Winter             April (commences Term 2) to September (end of Term 3)

The Summer Season usually coincides with our Representative Teams competing at intercity carnivals (CQJBC) and State Championships is a very busy and exciting time of the year.

The Winter Season coincides with the QSL season and Bundaberg Basketball utilises the talents of our Bundaberg Bulls and Bears to help coach and develop all players.

If your child/ren is looking at trying out for Representative Selection, the Winter season is the best time for players to develop their individual skills and game skills as well as attend Representative Selection trials.

Remember... Basketball is firstly an individual game where a player needs to develop their individual basketball skills (eg. catching, passing, dribbling, shooting, fitness etc), and secondly a team sport where you apply these individual skills as part of a team (learning the game, running offences and defences, running plays etc). It is important for players to understand this if they want to continue to grow as a basketball player.
